Here comes the Taco Hands!!!

« on: January 30, 2009, 06:45:51 PM »

Based on the spectacular recommendation by a member of the Luau clap (golferkeith, aka Golfer Keith), we're going to hold the:

FIRST ANNUAL GAME-A-HULA WEEKEND !!!!!!!!!!   (GAHW'09)

To benefit THE CAMERON KIDS PROGRAM

When:          June 20-21, 2009

Where:          Anywhere you choose

Who:            Anyone

Why:            To benefit THE CAMERON KIDS PROGRAM (as previously mentioned)

How:             Get out and play on June 20, 2009 or June 21, 2009.   Game your favorite Hula.  Make a small donation to CAMERON KIDS

How Much:      The suggested donation is $10.  Give what you can.
It's a great program that any member can benefit from... but it's not about you.  It's about the kids!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where to send $:  I'll be collecting all donations on behalf of The Cameron Kids Program.
100% of the money received will go directly to The Cameron Kids Program
Paypal is:   blav28@gmail.com    I will provide audit-worthy reports upon request.
(All donation amounts will be highly confidential.)

Rules:             Game a Hula.  Laugh your bootyshake off.  Post pictures of you gaming your hula.  Have fun.  Help out others.

There will be a random drawing for prizes given to participants.  All you have to do to enter is make a donation.
But once again... it's not about the prizes.  It's about the kids.
FYI.... giving $11 instead of $10 does not increase your chance of winning.

Let me know if you have any questions.  We all spend a lot of time here.  We've all spent waaaaaaay too much time in the Luau, the most popular thread on TCC.  Let's give a little back.  We've all seen the looks on the faces of the past recipients.  The next child could be yours or someone close to you.  A small donation is all it takes to make a child happy.  Immensely happy.  The selection committee has done an incredible job picking worthy candidates who appreciate the generosity more than you can imagine.  Let's keep the program going strong!

Here's the Link to the CAMERON KIDS section and the details of the program: http://www.cameroncollector.com/forum/index.php/board,47.0.html

OVERVIEW:
This program is designed to give deserving children who are really into the Scotty Cameron brand, as well as golf, a special gift donated by the membership of TCC.

HOW IT WORKS:
Members (Must be 21yrs or older to nominate) will submit names and bios of the children; they will also be required to submit a story as to why they feel the child is worthy of the prize. The Mods will post the stories for all the membership to review. Next, a poll of the membership will be held to determine the winning candidate. Once that winning candidate is chosen, the prize or prizes will be awarded.

TIMELINE:
This program will take about 3 months to complete. It consists of 3 weeks for submission of candidates, 1 week for voting, 8 weeks for prize delivery along with posting of the winner's picture with his/her Cameron goodies. This will be a quarterly event, held 4 times a year.

PRIZES:
Prizes to be given out are determined by what TCC members are able to donate.  If multiple prizes are donated within the 3 month contest period there will be a 2nd place, 3rd and so on until prizes have been fairly distributed.

CANDIDATES:
First off: children, and/or siblings, and/or relatives of TCC members ARE eligible. If the nominee is your child, we would suggest that you include letters of reference from other TCC members with regards to the Childs interests in Cameron’s, as well as  conduct. (see below)
This contest is open to all minors, ages 17 and under. These candidates should show a high interest in the Cameron brand as well as golf in general.  Also, the candidates should have good grades in school as well as show qualities of good citizenship and integrity. The candidate's legal guardian(s) must be in agreement with their child's nomination and likewise agree to the child's first name and picture being posted on this site.

CANDIDATE NOMINATION:
Nomination of candidates is open to any TCC member (Must be 21yrs or older to nominate) in good standing. Along with you submission should be a short story of how you know the child, how he/she has shown an interest in the Cameron brand, as well as a little bio on how they meet the qualifications listed in the CANDIDATES section. Along with your nomination provide a photo of the child and parental/guardian contact information. Please review the following link for for a list of require nomination information:   http://www.cameroncollector.com/forum/index.php/topic,29936.0.html

WINNER/ELIGIBILITY:
This is a quarterly event.  If a child is awarded 1st place then he/she becomes ineligible for future entries into the Cameron Kids program.  If a child wins any prize other than 1st place he/she must sit out the next quarterly event to once again be eligible for resubmission into the Cameron Kids program.  If a child fails to win any prize he/she is eligible for immediate resubmission into the next quarterly event.

WINNERS NOMINATING MEMBER:
The Winning childs nominating TCC member, agrees to provide proof of prize delivery, a photo of the Cameron Kid with there prize, and a thank you letter from the child to TCC

LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
In the event of a tie the decision of the judges (The Mods) will be final. Any taxes and or fees above the cost associated with the awarding and delivery of the prize is the sole responsibility of the winner. It is our intent to hold the Cameron Kids event every three months; prizes are determined by what is donated by the membership.

Great idea!

Doesn't Paypal charge a fee for handling the transaction? Would it be feasible to send a check to avoid those fees?

Great idea!
Does throwing a LUAU for my girl's 6th birthday count??? We gave her a LUAU last year for her 5th and her room is ALL Hula'd out (grass bed skirt, hula lamp, leis dangling everywhere).
Her birthday is June 21 so I already know what day I won't be golfing. smile

Again, sounds great Brian!

I have to give most of the credit to Brian because he has done all of the leg work.  I just had a crazy thought and posted it, didn't dream it would take off like this.
Anyway, I hope everyone can get out and GAH on June 20-21, let's think big on this one......

Chicago Area Members

This would be a perfect weekend to hold another TCC outing wink wink  We don't have to do up a big official one like Mike did (although that would be great but I know how much time it took for him to put it together).  We could play a Chicago area course (revamped Cog Hill Dubsdread maybe?) and celebrate the First Annual Game A Hula Weekend

Brian
Can we send you a donation now or should we wait?

Great cause and hopefully I will be back playing by then but a few thoughts just occurred to me.

Isn't that the weekend of the U.S Golf Open (18 - 21 June)? Really does not matter all that much if it is; but has anyone thought that it could also possibly be "around" the same time as the next ICC?

Could you imagine 160 Hulas all out together?

Any chance we could get someone to design a 1st Annual Game-A-Hula headcover through AME for this special event?  I think that would be cool...

If we do move in the direction of a HC other than what are current, we might incorporate a CAMERON KIDS SPECIAL EVENT HULA COVER...??

I agree, it was just an idea to think about is all.  I just think it would be really cool to get a special event cover made for this.  It seems as if you could tack on an extra $10 or so to the cost to have the headcovers made and put that towards the Cameron Kids donations.  I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out, hoping something sticks is all smile

Even better idea Tom!

But it will never happen in time. The Mods I'm sure have there hands full right now. I don't think there would be enough time to get everything approved. Thats why I said no TCC on the cover originaly. If we could get it done though, I'm all for it. A Cameron Kids Hula would be awesome! In Pink!

seriously...Brian and I had discussion yesterday at HULAPALOOZA...i/we am/are all in for a donation for each round of gaming a hula up and through the weekend of the big event... a gesture like this on the whole by the entire TCC community would make a huge step in the direction of which way we'd like to see the program go..

Brian!

I am in! Looks like Will and I will have to break down and get into the Hula craze (we have no hulas hide)!  I was trying to stay away from ONE release mania and behave!

Thanks for getting this together!!

Jennifer

Thats no fun! Get you a Hula! Game you a Hula!

...at $10 a hole Terry, the Cameron Kids will truly be grateful!!!

 wink

seriously...Brian and I had discussion yesterday at HULAPALOOZA...i/we am/are all in for a donation for each round of gaming a hula up and through the weekend of the big event... a gesture like this on the whole by the entire TCC community would make a huge step in the direction of which way we'd like to see the program go..

Great idea Tom/B! So we can make $10 donations to B for each round we "Game a Hula" up until GAHW '09?

Ah yes, an inspirational speech from Blav!  The money should come pouring in now! laugh

My buddy is playing in a tourny in a few weeks and wants to use one of my hula covers.  I told him sure, for a $20 donation to the Cameron kids program, he can use it!

Aaron that is a great idea. We could extend the invite to include all midwest people and get a good group together before the ICC this year.

Want to trade for a 2010 CCC cover?

« Reply #55 on: February 09, 2009, 11:29:15 PM »

Boy's GREAT idea!

I think we'll ask the studio to do a CK putter in your honor and ask the studio if the can deck one out in HULA colours and have it topped off with a HULA cover!!!

Please continue to look around for a DESERVING candidate to nominate to the committee, all the ones from last year are still in contention and will be considered but we're ALWAYS on the look out for more kids!
