I use to LOVE playing soccer in grammer school. I was short so I was horrible in basketball and I could never put the bat on the ball in baseball. I was good at soccer but then came golf once highschool started and here we are.

High School and early college pole vaulting provided rushes of adrenalin that I have yet to match, although surfing pre and post hurricane waves down at Cape Hatteras in August of '76 came close, and snow boarding has allowed me to fly as close to and occasionally beyond(!) the edge of control as I dared.

For me now, though, at this stage of my life, it is definitely golf.  I am entranced with the challenge of every single shot...from tee to green and once on the green getting the ball in the hole.  A long tee shot over 230 yards of junk, an approach over a lake, or a downhill left to right (or right to left) slider with a couple humps in the way can all get the juices flowing now.  The challenge is continuous and repetitive, and managing myself so that I can tame a course is just one hell of a lot of fun.  Plus, it is a lot safer than any of the above-mentioned activities...getting older is a bitch!

FIRST love has to be golf. Love to play it, love to watch it, love to read about it, love to talk it.
Football, hockey, baseball, basketball are all tied for 2nd.

My first sports love was athletics, mid to long distance running.  Suits my obsessive personality but then as time catches up and you try to go faster and train harder, the body says 'eh eh'. So then cycling, equally obsession quelling, harder to get injured unless you fall off, but time consuming ++ to do it really well and be satisfied, which brings me to golf...LOOOVE smile

Still go for a run occasionally (it hurts) and ride my bike to commute or for fun, but golf is it.

Definitely football.  I started playing when I was in 3rd grade and was hooked.  Ended up being captain & homecoming king my senior year of high school.  Has scholarship opportunities but nothing Div 1 so I passed.  Basically I'm too short (5'8") to go D1 or play pro so I went to college for college not football.  Damn genes, if I were just a few inches taller you guys would be watching me on Sundays!

Skiing. Golf just became something to do in the off season. I used to ski 100 days a year and golf about 250 days a year. Now I only get to ski a couple times a year and golf about 100-125 days a year.

wink Cricket, athletics and tennis when I was a lot younger, but then golf came along from the age of 10.  I still play squash and badminton occasionally as well as snooker and pool over a pint, but really its been golf all the way.

Football was always king at our house when I was growing up.  We lived less than a hour from South Bend and my Dad and a couple of uncles went often and left us boys home to dream about ND.  I love fall/winter Saturday afternoons and college football.  Too bad Indiana lacks in the powerhouse league.  Not alot to cheer about these days.

Sailing is my first love (mostly racing), but I started playing golf 3 years ago and became instantly addicted.  Now the sailboats get so little use, I should proably sell them, but everytime I go out sailing I fall in love all over again.

Growing up in Michigan, there were many winter days spent on "homemade ice rinks" in our backyard. Lots of great memories from our dogs running off with the balls or pucks, team games, shoveling the snow off the ice..... smile I never played real hockey, just skating.... but my brother did and I pretty much grew up in a rink.... laugh Can't beat watching a good hockey game.... laugh

Baseball was my first love!  I grew up playing baseball almost everyday in the summer.  I didn't get into golf until high school.  I wish I would have golfed in high instead of playing football.  It would have saved me five knee surgerys!

I played everything growing up.  Golf was really the only one i knew that i could get better in regardless of athletic ability, size, height, etc.  It was a sport that my ability was really up to me so naturally after middle school i stopped everything else and just played golf. Glad i did too.  I still have good knees, ankles, shoulder (one was golf related...who knew?) while all my friends who now play golf are beat to hell and gone. Momma didn't raise no fool!

I played baseball my whole life because I was a little too skinny in high school to play football.  I loved baseball but now I would have to say it switched to football (college and NFL).  I always loved playing baseball but I don't really enjoy watching it until the playoffs start.

I love baseball, seems slow to some folks but, thats the the thinking part of the game.Always wondering about whether the runners going to straight steal, hit&run, bunt him over, defensive allignments, the game within each game is fascinating.I enjoy watching the 4 major sports, college&pro,as well as watching golf.Watch more golf now that I play than I ever did before.

Baseball is the greatest game ever invented.  I played from age 7 through High School.  Standing on the grass on a sunny day, the smell of the leather.  It's the best.
Hitting a home run is the best feeling in sport, that I have found.   I have leveled guys on the football field, intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown, etc... The home run is the best feeling.  The challenge of the pitcher vs. hitter can't be topped.

Wiffleball is is pretty close to as cool as baseball.  Actually, wiffleball i sprobably better.  More beer and less running.

I used to love playing Hoops and Tennis too.

Now I'm 40 and Golf is the sport I still play, as I have for over 30 years.

Watching:  Golf, Baseball, College Football, College Hoops (NBA is total crap) Hockey

Golf,, don't watch other sports, probably the only male in america to say that.  Baseball is ok.  I was a professional bowler for a while in the 80's!

Softball (then Fastpitch) and basketball were my first loves until I blew my knee out in 8th grade. After my rehab I tried playing again and watched a girl take a one hop in the nose at third base. After that, I decided injury wasn't worth it anymore and that I was better at golf...

I focued on golf in high school (4 year letterman on a very competitive team). We won our conference in 2002, 2003, and 2004. 2nd place in 2005. We went to state in 2003 and although we finished last, we were still 11th in the state!!

Golf opens sooo many more doors than any other sport I've played. Older guys can't seem to get over my interest and the fact that I'm a decent player. Gives me an edge!!!

To play, golf and basketball are close.  But, with basketball there's just a ball and some neat shoes, maybe a cool pair of shorts.  BUT WITH GOLF, there is just so much cool gear to get that you can never have enough.  This site just proves my point smile
