I followed Kevin Streelman today and spoke with his wife a number of times during that nine holes.  I just got an e mail from her.  Kevin has had a putter stolen and she would like our help.  If you all could keep you eyes open for e bay ads and if it comes up please let me know so I can let Kevin know.

Thanks!

"hi greg!
great to see you today.  thanks again from both of us for walking the back nine.

hey, we had an unfortunate thing happen this weekend....kevin's newport 2 terrylium insert got stolen from his locker at the course!!!!  it's such a shame that things in their lockers aren't even secure.  esp at this tournament!  he is really bummed as this was the putter he putted so well with at the mexico event this year.

anyway, we were hoping you could keep your eye out for it if it surfaces on the internet.  obviously, don't waste any time looking but we figured you see a lot of the stuff out there.
the only other distinctive markings was kevin's initials on the toe.
thanks greg-

courtney"

i wonder if golfwrx or bombsquad would get these putters in their for sale ads??...don't know what their restrictions are...if any??

i would think pawnshops would be unlikely b/c they probably wouldn't "loan" mush money for a putter???

I Agree probably not to a pawnshop. im going to have my eyes on the bay looking for this baby. i feel sorry kevin, he is one of my favorite players on the tour, and this is a very unfortunate event.

My eyes will be open.

Doubt it will show up on the Bay but you never know.

I believe Scotty put a Scotydale 029 in the locker for Davis Love III in about 93 he made for him and about 14 of the best players in the world. Someone stole the 029 out of his locker and to my knowledge that putter has never shown up. Of course that is now a $30,000 plus putter.

That putter should be pretty easy for Scotty to duplicate for Streels. Maybe a money green insert would be cool, for his first win that is just about due. And if I remember right this is about the time of year he really starts to play well.

Sad to hear stories like this, that even happen with the security around a PGA Tour locker room.

Security during the day is very tight.  At night time or after hours you can get away with a lot of stuff.

That sucks... but unfortunately the person who stole it knew exactly what they were getting... and I doubt it will surface until it is circulating the secondary market... but I guess there is always a chance!

I wonder why Kev was targeted... and how many other items disappeared.  Camera's anyone?

That's brutal or Streelman.  I will say this, I've worked at a Club during TOUR events and after hours it's very accessible, unfortunately.  Greg's right, this has to be an inside job because even if you're a fan and have a clubhouse pass you can't get near the Lockers during the day.

Yes unfortunately this is really true. Lots of clubs after the regular tournament hours are still completely open to any members of the club, so it is extremely easy to walk right into the locker rooms and around the clubhouse.

And obviously a guy walking out of a locker room at a golf course with a putter in his hands isn't very suspicious at all.

Will be watching diligently! I'll see it for sure on wrx if it pops up in the fs adds there, I poke my nose at every thread that says scotty cameron there just to see if I can snipe one up wink

Sorry to hear about this Kevin! Ask the pro at the course to watch some of the players on the putting green the next few weeks!

If the scumbag is greedy enough to steal, he'll be even more greedy when he thinks he can make a couple of grand on the sale of it. It'll turn up eventually.

I overheard a PGA Tour Official talking with Greg Ownes at Vegas that they have found out who was involved at Congressional and at least Greg's putter has turned up (on e bay, I believe).  I totally forgot to ask Kevin about his.

Just sent the thread to a few golf bloggers that I know.  Perhaps they can publish something about it to raise the visibility of the missing putter and have it returned to Kevin!

I tend to agree.  You just have to hope the person is stupid enough to sell it on eBay.  I'm certainly on the lookout.

I am surprised that it would be that easy to just walk into a club house and take someone's clubs... I am surprised that the pga doesn't provide more security when it comes to stuff like this.  None the less, it is very disappointing to here this happen to KS.  What a bummer.

Gotta stay optimistic though.  My friend's Button Back with a shamrock stamp and "Big Ben" on the bumpers was stolen, but turned up on eBay and was safely returned.  Wouldn't mind this culprit also ending up on 'Smoking Gun: World's Dumbest Criminals,' too!

Looks Like CSI: TCC Edition is back on the case.

It HAS to be an inside job. If it does show up on ebay, what is the process for getting it back?

That one is a Newport, and Kevin's is a Newport 2.  Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's an e mail I just got

"On Oct 29, 2009, at 5:55 PM, Courtney Streelman wrote:

kevin was emailing w the guy and asked whose initials were on the putter and he wouldn't tell him.  so then kevin said "so were you the one that stole it out of my locker or was it one of your friends"....then the guy told kevin that he just bought it last week on ebay from another guy for $1800.  so kevin reported that guy to the scotty crew and i think they are going after him!

good job guys!"
